Dr. Bonny Stewart | Founder & Clinical Director

Dr. Bonny Stewart is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP), and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S) specializing in assessment, play therapy, consultation, and evidence-based interventions.

Dr. Stewart received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Arizona State University. She earned her Master of Arts and Doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the APA-accredited program at the Arizona School of Professional Psychology with an emphasis in child & adolescent psychology.  Dr. Stewart completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah and her post-doctoral fellowship at Childhelp Children’s Center of Arizona where she provided trauma-informed clinical services and victim/family advocacy.

Dr. Stewart went on to earn her M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction, Applied Behavioral Analysis from Arizona State University. Her clinical interests include early identification, assessment, and effective therapeutic interventions for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and developmental disabilities.

Dr. Stewart has extensive clinical experience working with children and families in a numerous settings including hospital, community mental health, advocacy centers, schools, and internationally.  She provides supervision and consultation, training in the community, and teaches courses at the doctoral level.  

As a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, Dr. Stewart can provide independent evaluations for private and public schools. She has extensive knowledge of the IEP process, assessment of students’ strengths and deficits, and the ability to assess the learning environment to develop positive learning accommodations.

Dr. Stewart is a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor.  She utilizes play therapy to help children work through problems and express feelings using play.  She uses talk therapy, expressive arts, and sand tray therapy to help teens explore their feelings, build self-esteem, and identify coping skills. Dr. Stewart has advanced training in trauma-informed therapies including EMDR and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), as well as Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). 

Dr. Stewart provides services for children as young as two years old, teens, and young adults. Her style is focused on the relationship and rapport she develops with each individual client.  She provides a warm, genuine, safe environment where children and families can blossom.  Family involvement and support are very important in her work, and she encourages parents to be an active part of the therapeutic process.
